Where has the wolf gone from the Wolverhampton Wanderers badge?

DSMMCM1920

Wolverhampton Wanderers are taking part in World Wildlife Day – Tuesday 3rd March is officially a day to celebrate the importance of all wild animals across our world. The UN official website has more information if you’d like to find out more!

So, where is the Wolf?

As for the new Wolves badge, all their social media platforms have actually removed the animal at the forefront of their badge and nickname; leaving it as just a plain orange hexagon. The main point of this is to highlight the importance of wild life. Now, don’t get me wrong – you may not even be interested in wildlife at all, but this marketing would still catch your eye and after a quick search on why the Wolf has been removed will raise more awareness for World Wildlife Day.

A quick check of the Premier League badges I found that 12 of them actually feature an animal. Now imagine if they all removed them, and how you’d instantly realise. So the question is, why don’t people realise how many species go extinct every year. Here’s a few quick bullet points highlighting some facts about wildlife.

  • A minimum of 200 extinctions happen every year
  • Tigers, Amur Leopards, Orangutans and Sea Turtles are just a few species that are already on the endangered list
  • On a lighter note, snails can sleep for up to three years
